Network Technologies

A remarkable variety of network structures is already in use in the world of broadcasting. IRT specialists investigate and measure the transmission of broadcast signals via numerous different network structures (IP, ATM, SDH/SONET, [Gigabit] Ethernet, DTM, DWDM, Fibre Channel, RPR, WLAN, WiMAX, etc.).

Main aspects

  • Compiling expert reports and studies on the suitability of various network technologies for broadcasting applications (case-based studies, as well)
  • Measuring/Assessing the network parameters in IPTV networks
  • Conducting of training courses

IRT services in the field of measurement methods

  • Acceptance-test measurements in LANs and WANs; evaluating the quality of transmitted signals and of networks themselves
  • Compilation of expert reports and conducting equipment tests; developing and implementing measurement techniques to facilitate the assessment of network components and adapters for the transmission of broadcast signals via networks
  • Metrological assistance during the commissioning of networks, including fault-finding, load tests, and the testing of realistic traffic scenarios
