Broadcast content on the Internet complements the offerings of conventional radio and television. Streaming, podcasting and on-demand technologies allow providers to offer content via new broadcasting methods.

IRT conducts research with the goal of improving the quality of audiovisual content on the Internet. International committees such as the European Broadcast Union (EBU) and international standards, e.g. MPEG and DVB, play a key role in our work. In addition to new audio/video codecs, our specialists place particular emphasis on the interoperability and compatibility of new technologies with existing infrastructure.

Our realistic and practical proposals help broadcasters optimise the production of online content and integrate it seamlessly into their overall operations. Moreover, we want to facilitate direct and simple access to online content for Internet users of different ages and backgrounds.
