Department Production Systems Audio

The "Production Systems Audio" Department focuses on research, development, standardisation and advising in the fields of acoustics, psychoacoustics and sound technology in radio and television.

Important Responsibilities and Services are:

Acoustics:

• room- and building acoustics - consulting
• room-acoustic simulation for configuration of recording-, control-, editing-rooms
• acoustics in broadcasting vehicles
• technical solutions for removal of jamming noise
• electroacoustic measurement and developments (i.e. new microphone KEM) 
• improvement of acoustic conditions of work in open-plan offices
• improvement of speech transmission quality from video conference rooms
• seminars, presentation rooms, measurement, evaluation of sound absorbers

Sound technology:

• audio technology in production, disposition and live broadcast
• production systems and file formats (MPEG, Watermarking, Streaming, metadata)
• multi-channel sound in radio and television
• 3D-Audio (binaural Sky, virtual acoustics, Binaural Room Synthesis BRS, wave field synthesis)
• measuring and evaluating audio quality (i.e. MUSHRA) 
• Systems engineering in sound studios (binaural room synthesis)
• volume problems in radio and television
• sound archives
