Programme Distribution
The "Programme Distribution" department coordinates projects for technical distribution of broadcast content via terrestrial transmitters, cable and IP-networks. Main topics are new distribution standards and ensuring the high quality operation of present broadcast services. IRT works on system solutions, measurement analysis, component testing and studies, to establish the technical basics for planning, anti-interference and development of present and future channels for broadcast distribution.
A well-founded frequency base is an important but difficult planning task due to the high level of utilisation within the frequency spectrum. In the frame of the revision of the frequency usage in Europe - which concerns the broadcasting service considerably - frequency strategies and analysis regarding the compatibility with other radio services have become quite important and their significance is going to increase.
