Following the analysis
of deficiencies , the identification and prioritisation of
areas that would benefit from improved conformance testing (
public extract of Deliverable 03 ), a set of
specifications and guidelines for sub-contracts were developed.
An announcement
was released to the MHP community in March 2004 in
order to address competent partners who are interested in working as sub-contractors.
Selected responders were considered in a tendering process in July 2004
and, finally, the following four partners have been selected to
implement several hundreds of new tests.
For each sub-contract, one project partner was
responsibly acting as technical and administrative contact partner. All input
created was subject to several stages of joint quality assurance and
review before it entered into the validation and debugging process in
workpackage 5.
It has to be noted that in addition to the test
implementation through sub-contracts, the project partners between themselves
verified and developed a significant number of tests for MHP 1.0.3. In
accordance with the work plan of the project, this work (on the so-called
internal working “Thread A”) was carried out in Work Package 5.
The complete number of tests implemented has
subsequently been validated in the main and time-consuming QA process run by
the project and described earlier. Most of the tests implemented have already
been submitted to DVB during the lifetime of the project and have been approved
by DVB as part of the official MHP 1.0.3.a Test Suite. An overview on the
strengthening of the DVB Test Suite achieved by the project's work is provided
under Publications as
project's influence on the DVB MHP 1.0.3.a Test Suite
An additional bunch of (less priority) tests is part of
the final bundle of tests prepared for DVB at the end of the project. It can be
sent to DVB whenever DVB is ready to accept that for MHP 1.0.3, and in addition
in can become part of an initial Test Suite for MHP 1.1.2 or PVR/PDR which
builds on MHP 1.0.3.
