The IRT is the research and development centre of the
public service broadcasters in Germany (ARD, ZDF, DLR), in Austria (ORF) and in
Switzerland (SRG/SSR). The IRT is a non-profit company working in the interest
of the general public. Favouring open technical standards and horizontal system
markets, the IRT is heavily involved in the technical work of the EBU (the
European Broadcasting Union) and is an active contributor to the relevant
standardisation bodies and international initiatives.

Role within the MHP-Confidence project:
IRT acts as co-ordinator of the project and contributes

experience from having developed and improving an own
MHP stack

results from verifying new tests developed within this
project
-
results from its activities as application developer
for first regular interactive MHP services
-
experience from launching experimental interactive MHP
services
-
consulting and supporting broadcasters in establishing
MHP services
-
experience and results from organising an ongoing
series of MHP Interoperability workshops with each up to 100
participants from throughout the world
-
experience from scrutinising the current version
1.0.2.b of the official MHP Test Suite and the
involvement in the official MHP Conformance Testing process
In detail, IRT will verify and debug newly developed
tests on IRT's MHP Implementation, co-operate with
external parties during MHP Interoperability workshops as well as
during their ongoing work on MHP in order to focus the work of MHP-CONFIDENCE
on critical areas, act as interface to DVB and ETSI together with Philips, co-operate
with broadcasters on their actual problems, and will organise further MHP
Interoperability workshops.
