NOKIA is a founding member of the DVB (Digital Video
Broadcasting) project and has been producing DVB consumer receivers
since spring 1996. Nokia Home Communications (NHC) is part of Nokia
Ventures organisation. NHC has it's R&D and head office in
Finland. The home environment is an essential part of Nokia' s global mobility
strategy. Nokia Home Communications develops innovative solutions for the home
that add convenience and seamlessly adapt to our busy lives. The company has 27
years of experience in the development of digital home platforms and
IP technology-based communications solutions for the home
environment.
Today, NHC sells terrestrial (OFDM), cable (QAM) and
satellite (QPSK) receivers. NHC launched the world's first digital television
receiver with Common Interface early in 1997 and in the same year NHC was also
the first company to demonstrate Internet access with digital TV receiver.
Nokia has been an active member of MHP specification work. NHC is
also a founding member of MHP Test Consortium.
