Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands is one of the world's biggest electronics companies and Europe's largest. Philips has been involved in MHP since the very beginning. Staff from Philips Research Labs in Redhill played a major role in the definition of the MHP technical specification and developed the first MHP implementation sold to application developers and broadcasters globally from 1999 to 2001. Today Philips sells MHP set-top boxes in several markets.

Philips Digital Systems Laboratories (PDSL) is a corporate level internal organisation, serving the advanced development needs of the various divisions and businesses of Philips. PDSL Redhill (PDSL-R) is based in the UK, sharing facilities with Philips Research Labs. Our mission is to be the first-of-a-kind product developer of choice for a number of technology areas including Internet and interactive TV gateway technology. Following a recent re-organisation, PDSL-R has taken over the digital TV activities and key staff from Philips Research Labs in Redhill.
