06/12/2012 — IRT starts brand logo database for multimedia display applications
With the brand logo database IRT offers in cooperation with the German public broadcasters ARD and Deutschlandradio to device manufacturers a central access to the latest logos for their display applications. The online database contains the brand logos of all involved broadcasting companies, TV, radio and online services of ARD, Deutsche Welle and Deutschlandradio in different display resolutions in PNG format. After registration under http://logodb.irt.de the logos are available without costs. The companies will be informed automatically about changes in brand logos and the database. The user menu is available in English and German language.
Radio and TV program providers have long ceased presenting their offers exclusively via the traditional broadcasting channels. Today, many reception devices with or without Internet connectivity offer entirely new forms of presentation for programs and related services. For example, apps for smart phones, hybrid radio and hybrid TV devices with very small or very large color displays or displays in car dashboards. In this environment, a distinct characterization of the content with brand logos is of high importance. This is the only way to enable consumers to develop a relationship with the appropriate brand and thus their favorite station.
"I am happy that the brand logo database, initiated by ARD and Deutschlandradio, can be now used by device manufacturers to download the latest brand logos of broadcasters’, programs and services. In a time when TV and radio devices are going to be smart, it is important that broadcasters’ services can be found and selected not only by program name or channel number but also by brand logos on the screen of the device," says Helwin Lesch, head of program distribution at the Bavarian Broadcasting Cooperation.
