IRT highlights MXF Analyser Professional 4.0
- Extended profile validation
- Performance enhancement
- AVC-LongGOP/AAC Audio support
- Support of floating licenses
- Executable in Microsoft Azure
[Munich/Las Vegas – April 8, 2015]
IRT presents at NAB 2015 in its booth C8031 (Bavarian Pavilion, Central Hall) the new version of its solution for the execution of MXF file analysis. With the Analyser, conformance to the MXF SMPTE standard and conformance to certain application parameters, such as operational pattern, essence container constraints, and payload formats, can be examined and displayed.
IRT’s MXF Analyser enhances the in-depth analysis of MXF files with high velocity performance (up to approx. 16 times realtime) and several key features. Configurable target value validation by using personalized profiles ('Application Specifications'), like RDD-9, AS-11, AS-10, etc., ensures a maximum interoperability in the file-based production process.
Furthermore the MXF Analyser allows an easy integration into workflows in service oriented architectures (SOA) via web services and an automatic validation of MXF files through the WatchFolder concept. Now, In addition to the essence types DNxHD, DV/DIF, IMX/D10, MPEG-2, JPEG 2000, PCM audio and MPEG 4/AVC also AVC-LongGOP/AAC Audio is supported.
Basing on the MXF Analyzer, IRT announced it will work with Microsoft Corp on a cloud-based service for Azure. As part of Microsoft’s Media Services offering the flexible and scalable (pay per use) in-depth analysis of MXF files can easily be integrated in cloud based media production processes. This service will be launched at IBC 2015. Besides this planned service, the MXF Analyser can be executed in Azure also from now. At this NAB a demo is showcased at IRT booth C8031 in central hall, how the MXF Analyser can be used in Azure.
The Analyser is the result of IRT’s extensive MXF know-how that IRT has acquired in the frame of its active involvement in the standardisation and maintenance of the MXF specifications, involvement in broadcasters’ MXF integration projects, and several years of testing projects at its MXF Test Centre.
“The co-operation with Microsoft extends the MXF analysis service into a leading global cloud environment” said Stefan Schneiders, General Manager Sales & Marketing at IRT. “This service will help Azure customers in the future to easily check the quality of their MXF files.”
“We are happy that a quality control tool like the MXF Analyser complements our Azure Media Services solutions and showcases the richness of our partner ecosystem. Customers and partners can use Azure Media Services to build their own rich media solutions and take advantage of transcoding in the cloud,” said Auste Viesulas, Director of Business Development, Microsoft Azure.
The Material Exchange Format (MXF) is a file format for interchanging and storing audiovisual material, standardised by SMPTE. Due to its flexibility, extensibility and the tight integration of essence and metadata, MXF is the file format of choice for the interchange and storage of finished or “almost finished” audiovisual material and associated metadata.
Products supporting MXF are essential for A/V content exchange, and for the establishment of interoperability between components and applications in ITbased production facilities. Hence, it is vitally important to ensure that products implementing MXF do comply with the relevant specifications, and to perform operational validation of incoming MXF files.
