MPAT (Multi-Platform Application Toolkit) is a project to develop a WordPress similar tool enabling media producers to make the opportunities of Connected TV accessible to a wide audience. These include functional aspects on the one hand, but also templates for design and navigation. MPAT will make it easier for operators without any technical knowledge, e.g. editors, to design custom apps and thus can be integrated into existing content management systems. The open source concept MPAT intends to provide all the necessary features to create compelling multi-screen applications for HbbTV and HTML5 based devices.
The aim of the project is to develop a modular platform that allows for creating and editing multi-screen applications for program-related content on TV, video on demand and OTT while apps that relate to TV and video content should be usable on any device, enabling a seamless transition between devices. Accordingly, it should be regardless for the user whether you consume the content in a conventional linear context or as on-demand, as the contents automatically adapt to the context of use.
